Girls who emerge from SCGS are world-ready, having benefited from a holistic and values-driven education, offering a truly balanced Science and Humanities curriculum. Over a programme of 10 years, our capable and committed professional team of curriculum leaders take the girls through an education which nurtures leadership qualities, mould character and instill intellectual depth and breadth.
SCGS is one of the rare all-girls full schools in Singapore which takes a child from Primary 1 (6 years old), through the Primary School Leaving Examination, to Secondary 4 (16 years old) to graduate with the GCE 'O' Levels. This widely recognised exit examination marks a critical crossroad, opening individual pathways to many vibrant educational and career options.
The 16-year-old SCGS graduate is poised for a future of immense potential. She has been nurtured and groomed through the highest quality holistic education, including solid academic grounding, practical life skills, worldly knowledge, social and moral conscience, leadership and motivational skills, and the appreciation of the arts and a healthy lifestyle.

Our legacy and track record in providing foundational education for a brighter future gives a leading edge. SCGS stays relevant by treasuring lessons from the past and embracing challenges of the future.
The SCGS Balanced Education, as illustrated in the diagram on the right, sets out the structure for the delivery of our 10-year programme.
Our Pupil is the focus, our valued treasures of jade and gold (the school colours), represented as a star.

The pupil’s development in SCGS is holistically based on these areas represented by the points of the star:
C ognitive
L eadership
A esthetics
S ocial and Moral
P hysical
We draw strength and unity from our basic tenets:
Vision
to be an asset to the country by developing capable women of character and relevance
Mission
which drives us to develop each pupil's character and abilities according to her individual pace and aspirations, in preparation for meaningful roles in the community; and
Values
of Sincerity, Courage, Generosity and Service
This foundational base is enhanced through Partnerships, our professional Staff and the Systems and Processes of the school
With this framework, we develop our pupils through:
F ormal Curriculum
Encompasses classroom teaching, laboratory work, talks and seminars related to their syllabus and academic work.
A esthetic Appreciation
Enriches understanding of the arts through exposure, hands-on experience, and participation in many arts projects such as exhibitions, performances and lectures.
C haracter Development
Derives largely through the Character Development and Leadership Excellence Programme and a wide variety of enrichment programmes, experiential learning activities, CCAs, community involvement projects and competitions here and abroad.
E ffective Living
Equipping with life skills - our girls learn to cook, sew, live healthy lives, and get nurtured in EQ and real skills for the real world.
S tudent Well-being
Attending to the emotional, psychological, physical and other developmental needs through programmes such as peer and teacher mentoring, counseling, career guidance and work experience.
Within this framework, not everyone will develop equally in all the domains as different individuals will respond differently to the various approaches, so our stars will shine in various ways. Most importantly, the development in diverse areas will address the needs of the whole being, so our girls emerge with the know-how, confidence and conviction to embrace future challenges.
