Throughout its distinguished 113-year history, SCGS has pursued a vision of developing capable women of character and relevance who are assets to the community. The commitment towards delivering a holistic education that provides the perfect balance of academic excellence across a broad scope of disciplines coupled with character and leadership excellence, has been rigorously sustained by:
• a high-performing and professional team dedicated to both teaching and research in curriculum innovation;
• a talented and diverse body of pupils prepared to lead and to serve;
• an academic and learning environment that encourages vibrant interaction among members of the SCGS community and
• the essential generosity of alumni, parents and friends.
SCGS graduates consistently achieve good academic results but the benefits of an SCGS education extends far beyond the classroom - it makes a significant difference for today’s pupils - the women of tomorrow who will go on to make their mark in the world.
Why Do We Need To Raise Funds?
At a time when new technologies and ideas are creating unprecedented opportunities and complex challenges, SCGS aspires to continue extending its leadership in offering a 10-year all girls’ education that will better serve our increasingly global society and community.
The school will focus on strategic areas where significant investment will advance this objective. The upgrading of facilities, development of an expanding curriculum driven by talented, experienced and committed staff, and the funding of scholarships, bursaries and awards, are some of the cost pressures the school faces. Hence, every gift is appreciated.
• SCGS School Building Fund
The proposed school redevelopment project will provide more sports facilities including an indoor sports hall, practice venues for performing arts groups and upgrading of teaching and learning facilities, auditoriums and halls. Additional facilities are also needed to support the Dual Track Integrated Programme (both O-Level and Integrated Programme) which will be offered from 2013.
Generous donation is needed to make this $25 million development project possible. Every gift is appreciated. Apart from the indoor sports hall and performing arts facilities, the school is also maintaining and constantly upgrading its other facilities (e.g. media studio, dance and music studios, auditorium) to support the delivery of a dynamic curriculum that will prepare pupils to be world-ready leaders.
• SCGS Endowment Fund
An SCGS education seeks the pursuit of academic excellence, the development of each individual’s talents and the encouragement of service to other people in the local and wider community.
The school believes that by expanding its bursary and scholarship provisions, it is supporting its founders’ vision by making available places to girls of high academic calibre so that they can enjoy first class education, regardless of income.
Besides bursaries and scholarships, the Endowment Fund also provides seed money for important new initiatives that cater to pupils’ interests and needs, push personal limits, chart new frontiers in research and impact the lives of the community.
A gift to the SCGS Endowment Fund will make a difference.
In SCGS, we believe in making every girl to be a quality world ready kimgek leaders of character and relevance. The spirit of shared experience and mutual encouragement that brings together SCGS graduates of all generations to achieve this vision is essential to the school’s enduring excellence.
