Secondary - Character & Leadership Development(Overview)
In SCGS, every pupil is nurtured to be a quality world ready Jinyu leader. The values-driven Character and Leadership Excellence Programme spirals the development of intra, inter-personal, cognitive and leadership skills and attitudes in our holistic 10-year education.
The pervasive Character and Leadership Excellence Programme encourages whole school participation and engagement that develops in pupils a passion for character excellence. Inspired pupils not only have a sincere desire to apply themselves to service, they are also determined to impact those whom they lead to make a difference in their own spheres of influence.
The inclusive and differentiated approach of the Character and Leadership Excellence Programme is guided by Howard Gardner’s Five Minds for the Future which provides breadth of development through the ethical, respectful, creative, synthesising and disciplined minds which are essential for leaders of the future.
The rigor of the programme is also achieved through Joseph Renzuli’s Schoolwide Enrichment Model which takes pupils through Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3 programmes of increasing depth.
The Character and Leadership Excellence Programme is organized along three tracks: General Schoolwide Programme, Emerging Leaders and Accelerated Leaders, as shown in the figure below:
