ADMISSION PROCEDURES - SECONDARY SCHOOL
Application for Admission to Singapore Chinese Girls' School (Independent Secondary)
Applications for admission to Sec 1, 2 and 3 SCGS(Independent Secondary) in 2013 can be submitted using the APPLICATION FOR ENTRY FOR SECONDARY SCHOOL form which you can download from this site. Students who are interested in seeking admission can send the completed form together with payment and supporting documents to the school. The date of the admission/placement test will be announced later if vacancies are available.
The PSLE cut-off point for our affiliated Primary division will be raised to 220 for the 2012 & 2013 Secondary One intake i.e. 2011 and 2012‘s Primary 6 cohort.
· Secondary 1
Admission for students with PSLE qualification
Students who have sat the PSLE are normally posted into schools in December.This is according to both merit and the choice of Secondary School made by the individual students. After posting, students who have not been posted into the school may still appeal directly to the school for consideration.
Admission for students without PSLE qualification
Singaporeans returning from abroad who have not sat the PSLE will be required to sit for an admission test conducted by the school in English, Mathematics, Science and MT / HMT (if applicable).
· Secondary 2 & 3
Students will be required to sit for an admission test conducted by the school in English, Mathematics, Science and MT / HMT (if applicable). Places will be awarded by merit and subject to the number of places available in the various subject combinations.
· Secondary 4
The school does not accept new students for entry to Secondary 4 classes as they must be suitably prepared for the O-Level Examinations.
· Returning Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents
From 2011 onwards, MOE will hold a centralized placement exercise for Singaporean children who are returning from overseas. Returning Singaporeans (RS) children seeking admission to Secondary (Sec) 1 to 3 can take the School Placement Exercise for Returning Singaporeans (SPERS) in October every year for admission at the start of the school term in the following year.
For RS who are unable to return in time to take the SPERS papers in October, MOE will conduct a Supplementary Placement Exercise in December. Applicants will receive their school placement results in early February for School admissions from February.
