Partnership In Education

INTRODUCTION

SCGS believes in, and actively promotes, a vibrant home-school-community partnership culture. The 110-year-old institution is united with its partners towards realising the vision of developing capable women of character and relevance.

PURPOSEFUL COLLABORATION

A staunch underlying philosophy that governs decision-making in the School is the belief that our partners are our strengths. The commitment to achievement of school goals is demonstrated in our close work with the main partners below:

(a) The SCGS Alumni

The school-Alumni partnership is vital to the success of both the school and nation. The strong Alumni network of outstanding women leaders exemplify school values, and mentor students in both academic and leadership development programmes. The Alumni supports the school with physical and financial resources. In turn, the school provides the Alumni with support in kind, opportunities for networking and a sense of fulfillment. The Alumni’s involvement and strong support ensure that with each generation of pupils, school traditions and culture are sustained and strengthened.

(b) Parents Support Group

The Parent Support Group programme is aligned with school strategic thrusts and goals. The Parent Support Group structure allows for a wide range of involvement, giving more parents opportunities for participation based on interest and expertise.

(c) Extensive Links with the Wider Community

SCGS seeks and harnesses resources from its extensive links to realise its vision of developing world-ready leaders, while contributing to the wider community. The experiences gained through key partnership programmes with business, industry, charitable and government organizations give pupils the relevant industry and practical exposure, and the necessary life skills, to be cosmopolitan leaders.
Since 2005, the school has cultivated strong alliances with overseas schools through its Internationalisation Programme. New partnerships with internationally-renowned educationists, and for joint projects with overseas schools, were also established.

SUSTAINABILITY IN PARTNERSHIPS

Strategic partnerships with stakeholders are driven by structures and processes that ensure sustainability. These focus on maintaining relevance, giving recognition, and in-built renewal processes. The school values its partners for their crucial contribution in various ways. The success and sense of fulfilment experienced by partners is perhaps the best reward and motivation to sustainable partnership efforts.

CONCLUSION

SCGS is proud of its successful collaboration with its partners, and is firmly committed to growing synergistic relationships with its partners to nurture every SCGS girl to become a quality world-ready leader of tomorrow.
