The School Badge |
The colours of the school crest are jade and gold.
The reason for the strict adherence to the colours jade and gold? The answer lies steeped in Chinese
traditional norms - for gold and jade in Hokkien (Kim Gek) and in Mandarin (Jinyu) connotes a young Chinese
girl brought up and educated in the best manner. One observes the relevence of this connotation in the context
of our current educational system, where the imparting of cultural values is stressed.
The school motto is SINCERITY COURAGE GENEROSITY SERVICE
The Yin and Yang sections of the old Chinese symbol of balance and complementarity are in jade and gold respectively.
This symbol, which represents the universe, light, darkness, life and death,
was adopted primarily because it was Chinese in origin and character.
