Invitation to SCGS CCA Talent Programme 2009 (DSA)

Under the Direct School Admission Exercise for Secondary Schools, the school will consider applications from those who seek to be admitted to Secondary 1 in 2010 based on their particular merit in the areas specified below.

CRITERIA
Such applications should be based on :
Talent / achievement in the following areas:
Band, Badminton, Basketball, Gymnastics, Squash, Swimming including Synchronised Swimming, Tennis, Robotics, Dance and Handbells Choir.
Minimum requirements to qualify for the initial short-listing are set out in the form.
Auditions/sports trials/interviews will be conducted for short-listed candidates on Thursday 16 July, Tuesday 21 July and Thursday 23 July 2009.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Applicants should download, complete and submit the Application for Direct Schools Admission Form. All Application Forms and supporting documents must reach the School by 5pm on Tuesday 30 June 2009. Late applications will not be entertained.

  • Ensure that you have met the minimum requirements before applying
  • Only Certified True Copies Photocopies of documents will be recognized. Be prepared to produce originals for verification should this be requested.
  • Applicants who are not studying in MOE schools must first obtain a Registration Number from the Ministry of Education’s Customer Service Centre (MOE CSC) before applying for admission. Any application not meeting this requirement will be automatically disqualified. No refund of the Application Fee will be given.
  • An Application Fee of $25 made payable to Singapore Chinese Girls’ School must accompany all applications.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
The School will consider all applications submitted in accordance with its requirements. Applications will be considered in the following stages:

  1. The School reserves the right to reject applications at its discretion. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email or post.
  2. All applicants who qualify for trials / auditions / interviews / other tests will receive emails or letters notifying them of the day, date and time of these tests.
  3. Applicants who are shortlisted for these trials / auditions / interviews / tests will be required to take a general ability psychometric test. An additional fee will be imposed at this stage. 
  4. The School will decide on the final candidates to whom Confirmed Offers will be made. All offers are conditional upon the applicant continuing to apply herself to the area of focus applied for. Applicants not given Confirmed Offers will be informed if they are on the Waiting List or if they have been Rejected.
  5. Emails or Letters informing all applicants of the outcome of their applications will be sent / issued by 4 September 2009. 

No one deserving of a place in the school need be discouraged because of financial considerations.  There are financial assistance schemes in place to support such cases.  All those interested in SCGS education and who can see their talents advanced at SCGS should apply.
